  With your generosity every Prairie elementary student will begin their summer with a forever book in their hands. Did you know that adding a small number of self-selected books to a home every summer can have the same learning impact that summer school offers? Children growing up in homes with no books are on average three years behind academically compared to children in homes with lots of books. Books in homes are as important as parents’ education in determining children’s education level. The mere presence of a home library increases children’s academic success, vocabulary development, attention and job attainment. Simply put, readers are leaders! For every $2000 raised at Prairie Fest 2024, an entire grade level of students will have the opportunity to select a book to become their very own. $10,000 will ensure every K-4 student has a new book to read and reread this summer. ​​​​​​​
