Contributing financially to the Prairie School Foundation is perhaps the simplest and most important thing you can do to help our Prairie Students as support from the State of Iowa continues to erode. The stronger the foundation, the better equipped our district is to provide an excellent educational environment for all Prairie students. By giving a gift to the foundation, you will be supporting all of our approximately 6,000 students and their respective schools. Each year, the foundation distributes money to every school in the College Community School District. Money will be distributed on a per capita student enrollment.
It has been said that annual giving is the lifeblood of nonprofit organizations. The Prairie School Foundation is no exception. The ongoing stream of these annual funds can affect every classroom and activity of the Prairie Schools and enhance the Prairie experience for every student. Our students are our priority.
Annual, unrestricted funds provide a pool of resources that can be utilized on short notice to provide educational opportunities that are not included in the district’s budget. Our annual fund is called The Kids Fund.
The foundation accepts gifts of cash, checks or through the convenience of Online Donations.
You may be able to enhance your gifts through your employer’s matching gift program. Many employers provide a matching gift program that can possibly double or triple the impact of your charitable contribution to the Prairie School Foundation. Matching gifts are counted toward your giving level in the Donor Recognition Clubs. Matching gift funds are a critical part of the fundraising program at the foundation. When making a gift to the Prairie School Foundation, please remember to check with your employer to determine if a matching gift program exists. This information is usually available through the company’s personnel or human resources office. If there is a matching gift program secure the appropriate request form, complete it and submit it with your contribution to the Prairie School Foundation. If you have any questions about matching gifts, please email our Operations Manager at aliciatjelmeland@crprairie.org. Please send your contribution and matching gift form to:

Several loyal donors have taken advantage of their employer’s payroll deduction plans. If your employer offers this opportunity you may designate a portion of your regular paycheck to be deducted for the benefit of the Prairie School Foundation.
Gifts are accepted for the purpose of memorials or honorariums as a tribute to family members, beloved teachers, administrators, or students.
A gift in-kind may be an option for some donors. Gifts in-kind, often referred to as in-kind donations, are charitable gifts of goods and/or services instead of cash. The goods or services would typically be items regularly purchased by the district. The valuation of gifts in-kind is closely regulated so we advise donors to consult with their financial advisor when considering this type of gift.
In addition to outright gifts, donors may choose to create planned or deferred gifts. Your attorney can help you name the Prairie School Foundation as a beneficiary of your will or living trust. You may set aside a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a specific asset. You may name the foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy you own. A gift of real estate with a retained life interest may be attractive. This means you can enjoy your property during your lifetime and upon death the property passes over to the foundation.
Planned or deferred gifts are a wonderful way to support the Prairie School Foundation, plus you and your family may experience significant income, estate and inheritance tax savings. We encourage you to contact your attorney, accountant or financial advisor for more information. By including the Prairie School Foundation in your estate plan, you will be ensuring a sound financial base for years to come for the education of Prairie Students.
Thank you for your interest in supporting the educational experience of our Prairie Kids!
